6. Should we disregard or heed Ephesians 4:11-13? "And He gave
   some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
   and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the
   saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of
   the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the
   faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a
   perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness
   of Christ..." According to this scripture, we MUST have a
   5-fold ministry WITH pastors, no?
7. @GodFearingIndividual ~ believing a pastor largely depends
   on how much you know about him, if you know he is truly
   seeking God's leadership, is he truly being led by the
   Spirit of God, if the Spirit of God has led you to serve God
   under that pastor's leadership ~ meeting all of those
   conditions would give one good reason to believe what THAT
   pastor teaches, however keeping in mind that he is a MAN
   subject to error BUT if he is truly seeking God's
   leadership, God will correct him & see next post

11. @GodFearingIndividual If you cannot find a faithful church
    near where you are, maybe you should fiond some like minded
    individuals and try and set one up?
12. @GodFearingIndividual If you read the books of 1 & 2 timothy
    and Titus you see Paul saying that their should be elders in
    the local churches, etc so clearly there is meant to be a
    structure with churches that have leadrship, also James 5:14
    makes it clear that you should be a in church with
    elders/leaders, as does Hebrews 13:17. I agree that many of
    todays churches have swerved from the truth, just like those
    of hymanaeus and Philetus 2 Timothy 2:17, yet we are
    commanded to be in a church.
13. @nsgrace2 i agree with that, it is important to study
    scripture either way. especially if you go to church because
    we can't just believe what pastors tell us to be truth. Its
    always important to study and search truth

15. @GodFearingIndividual I agree with you totally about the
    need to "always search the scriptures for truth in order to
    learn what God expects of us" except that it is just as
    important to study the scriptures even if we do go to
    church. Else how would we know if the preacher was teaching
    what the Bible teaches or some twisted doctrine? How could
    we recognize a false teaching if we never studied the True?
16. @GodFearingIndividual ~ You are right about the "church
    building" thing. We can have church in someone's home, in a
    cave or in a field with the sky being the ceiling. It is
    very unfortunate there are so many "pastors" that really do
    not know the God they preach about. That is the reason I
    specifically stated, "If I were you, I would ask God to lead
    me & then search til you find one." Or is there another
    way you could observe the 5 fold ministry mentioned in
    Ephesians 4:11-13?
17. @nsgrace2 Also i want to make it clear that we should always
    search the scriptures for truth in order to learn what God
    expects of us even if we don't attend a church. Not going to
    church is not an excuse to not open up our bibles and read
    or study it
18. @nsgrace2 Good points you have made still no where does it
    say that we must attend a church building in order to prove
    that we are saved or to learn about God. The bible should be
    our only authority not a pastor because like i said before
    some pastors do not know what they are talking about. I
    don't mean that we shouldn't fellowship with believers
    because the bible clearly commands us to in Hebrews, but
    that doesn't mean at a church building.

    Paul write, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that
    perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the
    power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV) If I were you, I
    would ask God to lead me & then search til you find one. I
    failed to ask Him to help me but He saw my heart's desire to
    find a church that taught the Truth and He led me to one
    where the pastor has the same desire & the Holy Spirit OFTEN
    confirms the preaching!
