Steve Jobs demos Apple Macintosh, 1984

Comments on 'Steve Jobs demos Apple Macintosh, 1984'

  1. steve kicks ass
  2. Damn you proprietary medieval age This were all started. But
the countdown has started for the rise of the TOTAL
    open-source domination!!!
  3. It's insanely great!
  4. And an IBM/MS PC at the same time could do what?
  5. Well the comparable Dell or HP machines are all pretty equal
in price to the macpro. It's only if you're going to build
your own or buy a cheap piece of shit that you'll save
    considerable money.
  6. if youve seen pirates of silicon valley, you will understand
why he gets this emotional, tough time for him really.
  7. I so wish i had that computer
  8. Uh, what about the Zune. Wow, Microsoft really succeeded
    with that one huh
  9. Uh, what about the Zune. Wow, Microsoft really succeeded
    with that one huh
  10. Dude, it's great that you love your PC, but do a little
research before you post. Microsoft ganked its interface
from the Mac (who ganked it from Xerox first). I was typing
into a DOS prompt to launch Lotus 123 in the late 80's. Both
companies were profoundly important in the history of the
    personal computer.
  11. HAHAHA are you honestly saying that Microsoft hasn't shaped
the way we look at technology today?!?! Apple was absolutely
nothing up until a few years ago, when they started shipping
off cute little computers and iPhones. Microsoft doesn't
need to make little toys to be the most successful computer
    industry of all time.
  12. I think you meant "buy" a PC. I didn't buy my Mac because of
the hype I bought it because it works and makes me enjoy
using my computer instead of worrying about force quitting
applications and troubleshooting and downloading drivers for
everything. I just turn it on and do anything I like.
  13. what is so stupid about innovation? This was
groundbreaking. Nothing Windows has ever done has been
cutting edge. They just follow everyone else.
  14. yeah, i bet they will cry when they see their mac air be a
    portable toilet/switchblade/telescope/bed/gun/car
  15. lol... so Youtubish..
  16. Lol nice hair :P
  17. He's crying. He's so emotional...
  18. Well you could say that any current year was more advanced
than the preceding year. Just seeing or saying the name
"Apple" gets them in to a frenzy.
  19. lol, are you forgetting that this was really advanced
technology for the time, it is something to be excited about
because nothing like that had really existed up until that
    point.
  20. Well the Apple fanatics haven't changed. They still cheer
    for the most stupid things.
  21. And... The beginning of a shitty computer line. FUCK
    APPLE!
  22. I'VE GOT THE ONE right there in the video. The Macintosh
    Plus.
  23. Evidently u dont know what having a MAC means....
  24. ...I want one. But not a recent one, I want that one right
    there in the video.
  25. I would love to own a Mac. As soon as Apple starts selling a
computer that doesn't cost me twice as much for the same
power, I'll buy one. I can get, for about $1,000.00, a PC
that is the equivalent of a $2,000 Mac - as far as raw
computing power is concerned. (I'm NOT attempting to compare
OS X with Vista - Vista is crap compared to OS X. I'm
simply comparing raw computing power.) Until Apple makes
their computers' prices competitive with PC's of equal
power, I'll continue to own a PC.

Demo of the first Apple Macintosh by Steve Jobs, January 1984, in front of 3000 people. Andy Hertzfeld captured the moment quite well in his retelling: "Pandemonium reigns as the demo completes. Steve has the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face, obviously holding back tears as he is overwhelmed by the moment. The ovation continues for at least five minutes before he quiets the crowd down."
