- I don't think that's true. I do know that there were
specific years that the exhaust would only fit but I can't say if it was 73 or not. I want to say 74 was the odd year for exhaust.
- I have the same bike and I heard that the 73 would be very
expensivr to rebuild because only parts from a 73 engine will fit in the 73 engine. Is that true?
- no choke... no choke!!! your're soooooooooo right man!!!
learn people!
- MY bad he talked about fuel pumps
- I was refering to the post that guy made about bikes not
having chokes....my panhead likes the extra shot as long as i prime it out....my evo bobber likes one full throttle while prime kicking but she acts different depending on the weather...ride hard !!!!!
- Oh, by the way, I forgot to comment on how beautiful that
Pan is that you have. Very nice man! Well done!
- That's an SS Super E on my bike. What do you think I'm
doing when I snap the throttle. You don't want to use that "choke" that SS has unless you absolutely have to. It's not a choke at all. It just dumps raw fuel into the carb and then you foul out your plugs a lot quicker.
- You obviously dont own the SS super series....nice little
accel pump. most starts just open throttle key off prime pump 3 times then let it rip...choke as needed.
- shit. that sounds/looks good. now you onlyneed a cape,
sunglasses and a big o shotgun
- sick ass bike! man!
- nice bike bro. Hope ya still got it, and put the wind in
your face with her.
Ride Safe and Live Free !!!!!!!
- You know what, I think you're right and I spoke too soon,
LOL. After I did some research, I found out that carbs like yours do indeed have accelerator pumps so you are indeed doing the right thing. To be honest, Harley's aren't my strong suit (obviously, LOL). I've had metric bikes all my life, but would sure like to find a nice vintage '72 Harley someday since that's my birth year.
- I never knew that. I thought that S and S was like my dad's
Mikuni. When you crank on the throttle you can see it squirt fuel into the carb. BTW I've got a video of him doing a burnout on my main page.
- Nice bike......only one year newer than I am, LOL.
BTW....had to comment on your starting procedure though where you "pump" the gas prior kicking 'er over.....motorcycle carbs don't have accelerator pumps so all you're doing there is opening and shutting the throttle butterfly, not squirting raw gas into the intake like on carbureted cars and trucks.
- Thanks. I'm looking at getting that frame myself.
- 2 1/4 40 degree. It feels just right with that light
Ironhead. Handles like a dream. Just takes a while to get it turned around sometimes. It's a paughco frame from the 80's.
- What's the rake on that?
- Awsome bike, check mine out
- Now THAT is an awesome bike!
- where did you get those pipes ? gotta get a set for my 73
xlch
- Whats up. Do you know what knid of cams you have in? I just
bought a set of andrews "Y" grinds, and was hopeing that they sound like that. Awsome iron by the way.
- You see ticked out bikes, wild paint, and all other kinda
mods on here... but this bike is ACES!!! Sweet man! "Keep the shiny side up"
- Very cool bike man!!!!
- VERY nice all around...love the mags.
...There's a rumor
that HD is going to add a kick-start a on their new bikes.
- Bro! cool bike!!! love the sound man!
