Comments on 'Jimi Hendrix Jam With Roy Buchanan' |
- I agree with richdys and his reasons why this is not Roy
Buchanan. It's hard to tell for sure because of the blurriness, but the guitarist in question looks to be Clarence White in my opinion.
- Roy taking Jimi to school!
- are you listening to the same jam...?
- who is the black guy playin bass
- hahaha...thats quality!
- Chill the fuck out ya silly cunt, its not Roy.
Deal with
it.
- i really love it when people who weren't even born yet think
they know a person and his habits and moods how he done this or that.
YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK!
- Wow...I don't think I've ever heard Hendrix or Buchanan play
worse. Somebody must've spiked their beer...
- Roy was a competitive guy when it came to jamming. If he got
on stage with somebody which was rare prior to his record deal. Or somebody got on stage with him. It was his personal mission to weld that guys doors shut There is no he would have played this passively. 2nd. I saw Roy play dozens of times from 65-70 and I never saw him play as a trio. He was not a great trio guitarist. (Too precise) he did not like having to carry the rhythm section while he was playing lead.
- No Apology necessary. This is not Roy. Holds the guitar all
wrong Roy kept his neck almost perpendicular to his body when he played very flat. second by the time hendrix was in his heyday RB had been playing for years. I used to see him at clubs like the Silver Dollar and the 007 in d.c. Played with a bassplayer named Curt Jonne. His style of play was fully developed in 65/66/67. All his famous tricks. Even high on qualoodes RB would never play this bad. NOT HIM.
- PART 2 - Sorry to say he always had a bit of a monkey on his
back that finally caught up with him. One tidbit of his history is that Hendrix in NY sought Roy out when he live in DC and first got together to trade licks.
thanks steve
- PART 1 - Sorry to inform you that this absolutely is Roy
Buchanan . You have to remember this is very early in his career with his signature hat , goatee and pointed sideburns which changed many times. I was a roadie ( even before the name ) back then we were called tech / light and sound men and the band setup their own gear. My friendship with Roy spanned from his solo act to a three piece then later adding a full time keyboard player and still have some guitar & leslie cords of his.
- I bet my nuts the white men ISN´T playing a tele, looks
more like a les paul... whoever he is
- This is not Buchanon. Flat out guarantee it. Sideburns
aren't right and Buchanon, Drunk on Lewds and falling over would not play this bad. Posture is wrong. Phrasing is wrong. Tone is wrong. Not him.
- Then again, it does sound a bit familiar to perhaps a "
'Dear Mr. Fantasy' - jam", like free style, so, maybe it could be Mason. Both Mason and Buchanon are heroes, and as Roy is no longer with us, all his performance videos - out there - are great and have special nostalia. The video posting person wrote: "1968" I notice, so it had to be after Hendrix was well-known. Hmm?! That's a knoggen scratcher (the whole puzzle)!?
- To Toris93, Thanks for the history. All artists in this era
are fascinating. To all viewers, as to this video, I've recently seen more of Dave Mason, & while he's no runt, I still think Buchanon's facial features resemble the guy in question, more. If Roy writes differently in autobiography, maybe he forgot about it, or it happened pre-fame of Hendrix, so he wouldn't have known who he'd jammed with,or had a beef with someone in Jimi's camp-Who knows? Roy may have played more like this at the time.
- probably true, the band billy had before zztop toured with
jimi in the states!
- DEFINITELY NOT RORY GALLAGHER
- its roy buchanan because dave mason isnt as good as that and
dont the volume swells at the start of the solo give it away? who else did them back in 69? hmmm roy buchanan and hes playing a telecaster it is buchanan or an exact look and sound a like its not dave mason or zappa!!
- People were more open-minded to music back then.
- It's the guy from traffic
- I've heard it said that Hendrx jammed with Billy Gibbons, a
lot, too, of Z.Z.top.
- And to the one commentor, I think the one player in question
IS Buchanon, the facial features are right and the guy shown here is tall, like Roy (in fact ten gallon hat-style proportions-ha!),certainly taller than I remember Dave Mason-or any of those others mentioned-being,though they're ultra cool artists too.
- I wonder if whoever filmed this was using super 8 cam, or
1/2 or 3/4 inch reel to
reel. I've seen them all, had to convert some to v.h.s., and recently to d.v.d.. They're getting harder to find, the projectors, & clunky as all get out. I bet the filmer watched it at home until it lost magnetic clarity. It doesn't get much cooler than these cats.
- Dave Mason possibly??
