- Hey man!
Don't you need a liquid sealant in between your
carter halfs?
Great video's btw. Got a 72' beetle with a AB1300 that won't start. I was gonna take it to school and work on it there , but I tkink I'm gonna tackle it myself now.
Greetings from Belgium!
- Fix your Web site It keeps freezing up my browser every time
I tried to go on it. the trouble is not on my end.
- no gaskets ,permatex
- The only reason I use them is they come in the kit. I use
Permatex Non Harding sealer under the washers and never have a leak.
If you put the red side down you don't get a true torque on the nuts and over time the torque will change, it will loosen and you don't want that.
- why did you use case sealing nuts and install them upside
down? the red part of the nut goes down to seal out oil leaks..
- do you use permatex #2 as the case sealer?
Thanks for a
great vid
- Jack,
Please ignore all the stupid comments posted in your
videos. You have done a HUGE service to all of us VW fans and we are in debt to you. Keep up the great work and always remember that if nothing else you have a HUGE fanbase in Pakistan now. (On behalf of the VW Club Of Pakistan)
- I didn't, its part of the block.
- when did you install the oil pickup tube?
- I use Permatex Non Harding sealer and just a thin coat on
both halves of the case.
Jack
- Hello,
Didn´t you use any type of seal (like a loctite or
other typer) in a junction of the two parts of the Block?
By the way you are doing a very good joob
Best regards
- The cam opens and closes the valves via the push
rods.
Don't sell it the engine wont run.(-;
- You have to have the cap on or the blow-by from the engine
will push oil out the oil fill.
- What's the cam shaft for? It looks pointless, I'll just sell
mine.
No really what does it do?
- Hello Sir! Congrats about the job u done.
I was eager to see
u assembling the alternator/oil tower to see the right position of that grill that goes between the tower itself and the case. but I did not see it.
I`m having this ~oil spill~ thru the oil tower when without the cap
Can u help me?
thanks in advance!
- Your so right about the nuts!
- koolbossjock, Your so right about the nuts..
- I had sent several comments that never showed up for some
reason.I hear ya on those teflon nuts,i have seen people including myself that has used them in the past with the teflon right side up with permatex and washers and torque to 26 i believe. If you use them against the case only torque to 18.I am leary about using them face down w/o washers, like you said my concern was the torque setting changing over time. That red part is NOT a seal but more of a self locking nut.
- Test, can you read me now? (-: whats all the testing for?
- Yes I would beleave that. The only reason I use the self
sealing nuts is they come in the kit and I put them on backwards. I found you can't alway get the right torque with them and the torque setting on the tefflon seal will change as the case contracts and expands. I never use the O Rings because I had a problum many years ago with one O ring not seating right and never used them again and never had a problum, the oil will not travle past the permatex and washer. Do what you think is best.
- Test
- Test
- Test
- Would you believe i was reading a book that said put the 6
self sealing nut for the crank that torque the case with no washer and the red towards the case.Oh by the way I did not see you put the o rings on the studs in the case b4 clossing.lol
- Love the videos, and love the music in all of them just as
much, just had to comment on this one though, Maggie May!
Helpful videos, thanks!
